What is a System Object?

Introduction to System Objects

System Objects are designed to facilitate the configuration of networks.

Traditionally, devices are configured one by one with the desired attributes (i.e. LAN segments, Policies, Services).

System Objects are attributes that are configured one time, changeable as needed, and able to be used repeatedly to easily attach to as many Edge devices as desired, both for current and any future devices.

These Objects are defined globally, and called into the configuration as needed.

Since multiple Edges can be told to use the same System Object, this will reduce the number of configurations needing to be done on each individual device.

Transitioning to System Objects

Any Edge device that has been previously configured directly will be in a state of Local Configuration.  These devices will have legacy configurations and will be able to be maintained and further configured in that Local Configuration.

Edges going forward will be attached to a Site and configured through that Site with System Objects.  These Edges will be maintained and further configured through that Site.  Each Edge will be attached to only one Site.
