How Does Billing Work at Graphiant?

Whether you have purchased the Graphiant Network-as-a-Service directly through Graphiant or through an online vendor such as AWS Marketplace, you will have provided an estimate of how much bandwidth you anticipate needing within the regions in which you are operating.

Graphiant will then set the allocations for your account based on those estimates.

Note:

These allocations are your reserved capacity and do not indicate actual usage.

The purchase of the allocated bandwidth is through credits, which are also tracked — per region and in total — on the billing dashboard.

Graphiant calculates your monthly usage based on the P95 model:

At the end of the month you are only billed for the bottom 95% of your usage;  you are not billed for the top 5%.

Credit Consumption Models

Graphiant has two models to choose from, depending on the amount of bandwidth you need for your network:

  • Committed Consumption: If you commit to an allocation of bandwidth for usage, you lock in your usage and will benefit from discounted pricing.  The more bandwidth you commit to in allocation, the lower the number of credits you are charged per Gbps.

  • Pay-As-You-Go: If you prefer no upfront commitment and wish to pay for only what you use, you can pay as you go and be charged for each Mbps as you use them, yet at a higher rate of credits.

Which Bandwidth Allocation Tier is Right for Me?

Bandwidth Allocation Tiers are configured as follows:

Credit Consumption Model

Bandwidth Allocation Tier

Bandwidth Allocation Range (Gbps)

Features / Benefits

Pay-As-You-Go

Spot

0 - 1

No upfront commitment

Committed Consumption

Blue

1.1- 10

Entry-level commitment,

Base discount

Committed Consumption

Silver

10.1 - 20

Mid-tier savings

Committed Consumption

Gold

20.1 - 40

High volume, better discount

Committed Consumption

Platinum

40.1 - 100

Maximum savings for

largest commitments

Note:

  • Any bandwidth allocation value within a tier will determine your credit pricing;  you do not need to commit to the highest value within that tier.

  • If you do not use your bandwidth, it does not roll over to the next month’s allocation.  If you find yourself consistently having extra credits for bandwidth, contact Graphiant to decrease your allocation by opening a ticket or contacting Graphiant support .

Caution:

If you do not allocate any bandwidth, you will be billed at the Spot Tier rate.

How Do I See My Allocation and Usage of Bandwidth / Credits?

Graphiant provides a dedicated Bandwidth Allocation Dashboard for visibility of both bandwidth and credits, along with the ability to increase your allocated credits anytime.

Locating the Billing Dashboard

From the Graphiant Portal Home Page, click the caret  at the bottom left, to the right of your profile name.

Dashboard overview displaying usage statistics, services, and GAP score metrics.

Select ‘Settings’ from the dropdown.

Dashboard overview showing services, usage statistics, and settings for user management.

Select the 'Billing’ tab.

This will open the Billing Dashboard.

Billing overview showing credit consumption, network usage, and allocated monthly credits.

Note:

Information will be for the month selected in the top right;  in this case May of 2025.

This dashboard provides the following information:

Widgets:

  • Credit Consumption:

    • Credits Consumed:  Number of credits used

    • Recommended Consumption: Advised consumption per month going forward, based on your remaining credits over the remaining time on your contract

    • Subscription Type:

      • Contract: Purchased via direct sales with Graphiant

      • Monthly: Purchased via AWS Marketplace

  • Monthly Network Usage: Bandwidth usage recorded during the month, broken down between:

    • Core Network:  Graphiant Entity (Edge/Gateway) to Graphiant Core

    • Cloud Gateway:  Graphiant Gateway to Cloud Service

  • Billed Credit Level: Amount of credits remaining for that month

    • Consumed: Progress bar indicating how many credits have been used out of your allocated amount

      • Contract:  The Expiration Date will show the month your contract will end.

      • Monthly: The Expiration Date will show the end date of the current month.

Credit Table:

  • Region: Where the bandwidth is being consumed upon entering the Graphiant Data Highway/Backbone

  • Core Network Capacity: Maximum usage for your plan between the Edge and the Graphiant Core

  • Cloud Gateway Capacity: Maximum usage for your plan between the Cloud Gateway and the Cloud Service

  • Allocated Monthly Credits: Number of reserved credits per region for your plan for the entirety of the month

    • Total Monthly Credits: Total number of reserved credits for your plan for the entirety of the month

You can see further details of your usage per region in the Bandwidth Dashboard within the Graphiant Portal.

How Do I Edit My Bandwith Allocation?

To increase your bandwidth for any amount you wish to allocate for a region, click the ‘Edit’ symbol to the right of the region to be updated.

Billing settings showing credit consumption and network usage details for various regions.

A modal will appear where you can increase your allocations for both Core Network and Cloud Gateway individually.

Note:

  • You can only increase your allocation here.

  • To decrease your allocation, open a ticket or contact Graphiant support. The change(s) will take place at the next billing cycle.

Edit allocation settings for network credits and monthly credit estimation details.

Increase the desired bandwidth allocation for either Core Network, Cloud Gateway, or both.

Note:

The credit totals for both capacities for that region are shown to the right of their respective fields, and update as you fill out the bandwidth so that you can see what the effect will be before you save your changes.

Click ‘Save’.

Note:

While increasing your bandwidth allocation amount, should you hit the next tier, Graphiant will automatically adjust your credit charges to match the lower price in that new tier.  For more information about tier levels, click here.

Should an Overage Occur

Overages are handled differently, depending on if you have purchased the Graphiant Network-as-a-Service directly through Graphiant, or through AWS Marketplace.

Overage Information Regarding Direct Sales from Graphiant

If you have purchased the Graphiant Network-as-a-Service directly through Graphiant and have your bandwidth allocation set so that you may deplete your credits prior to the end of your contract — for example, if you purchased 100 credits for the year, but the bandwidth allocation is set to hit that much earlier — Graphiant will bring the situation to your attention and you will see this banner:

Warning about bandwidth overprovisioning and contact information for assistance.

If you receive this message, contact Graphiant Sales to avoid an overage.

Overage Information Regarding Sales through AWS Marketplace

If you have purchased the Graphiant Network-as-a-Service through AWS Marketplace and go over the purchase amount, AWS Marketplace will notify you with this banner:

Notification about bandwidth overage and billing through AWS Marketplace services.

AWS Marketplace will bill any and all charges that may apply.

Downloading Your Bandwidth / Credit Usage Information

You can download a report of this page by clicking the ‘Export’ button above the table.

A modal will appear confirming the month of the CSV file that you can export.

Click ‘Download’.
