Bringup a Graphiant Edge

What is Zero Touch Provisioning?

Zero-Touch Provisioning automates the process of installation, configuration, and upgrading software images deployed in a Graphiant network for the first time. This process allows your device to be onboarded without having to interact with the device at all via the local web server on device.

What Types of Edge Components Exist?

There are two types of Edge Components: Cloud Edge and Hardware Edge.

  • Cloud Edge on AWS, Azure, ESXi, KVM

  • Hardware Edge

Deploying an Edge Component:

Virtual Edge on ESXi/KVM

Using a qcow, iso or vmdk that you have downloaded, deploy and launch the instance.

Allows VM to be identified, and requires a user to access the web interface of the VM to validate internet connectivity before completing the remainder of the bring up process.

Cloud Edge on AWS/Azure

Cloud based images are published and registered within your marketplace before you launch. With a cloud based edge you have many options as part of a first bring up of an instance. Deploy the VM from the Marketplace and access the local web interface on the VM to complete the remainder of the bring up process.

Hardware

The physical device is embedded with a tamper-proof chip that guarantees your identity as a valid Graphiant device. This chip in itself constitutes a permit to operate, and allows the device to automate the process of installation, configuration, and upgrading software images on the first bootup, so long as it has IP reachability to begin its process to communicate with the BringUp service.
